"The concept of an education centered upon the care of the living being alters all previous ideas. Resting no longer on a montessori curriculum, or a timetable, education must conform to the facts of human life."
~Dr. Montessori

Learn About Our Top Montessori Curriculum

Toddler Montessori Programs
2 Days or 3 Days 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Our montessori curriculum fulfills the two-year-old's basic need for exploration, movement, independence, language acquisition, and self-esteem. The toddler curriculum, under the direction of specially trained and caring teachers, encourages motor development and problem solving skills. The toddler student learns the necessary life skills to interact harmoniously with peers and adults with our premier montessori curriculum.

Pre-Primary and Extended Day Montessori Programs
5 Days Pre-Primary 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
with 5 Days Extended Days 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
or 5 Days Pre-Primary 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

We offer three-year montessori programs for children ages three to six years. Ideally, the child will enroll at age three and spend three years in the same classroom, with the same teacher. The preprimary classroom is prepared and filled with carefully chosen montessori curriculum developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. Children, guided by the trained teacher, choose their work from among the beautifully arranged, self-correcting, multi-sensory materials. Through our excellent montessori curriculum, chidlren work with the materials and grow toward self-discipline, order, and concentration.

The third year of our Pri-Primary montessori programs is referred to as the Extended Day year. Students are invited to stay beyond the morning session, for extension of their working day. During this time, students are exposed to more in-depth exploration in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, and cultural subjects. Music, physical education and Spanish are also integrated into the Preprimary and Extended Day montessori curriculum.

As required by our state operating license, all students enrolled in the Pre-Primary montessori programs must be completely toilet-trained. No diapers or pull-ups are allowed to be worn in the preprimary classroom at Montessori Childrens School. Our staff will assist a child who has had a toilet accident. However, in accordance with our license, we cannot retain a child who continues to have toileting accidents.

Elementary Montessori Programs
5 Days 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Our montessori curriculum builds upon the goals and accomplishments of the Preprimary montessori programs. This classroom environment reflects a new stage of development in children, offering to them materials that present the richness of all cultures and knowledge of human civilization. During the elementary years, children become more interested in knowing the "why" and the "how" of their world, having already learned the "what" in the preprimary years. Their interests now broaden to include the entire world, not just the world of their own family. While mathematics and language arts skills are enhanced and emphasized, these skills gain their full importance when they are used to research and study areas of interest and to share their findings with classroom peers. The montessori curriculum is wide-ranging and open-ended. Students are guided and encouraged by the trained teacher to develop their own work plans for each week. Since the children at this age are naturally social beings, opportunities abound for working with peers on projects. Cooperation and self-reliance are stressed. We want the child to realize the part that humanity has played and still has to play.

Using stories, music, impressionstic charts, experiments and games, the montessori curriculum is built around five great lessons:
1) creation of earth;
2) coming of plants and animals;
3) the arrival of humans;
4) language; and
5) math and invention.

...The idea is always to inspire, not to require.

"History must be alive and dynamic, awakening enthusiasm, destructive of intellectual egoism and selfish sloth. But history of human achievement is real, a living witness to the greatness of man, and the children can easily be brought to the thrill, to the knowledge that there are millions of people like themselves, striving mentally and physically to solve problems of life, and that all contribute to a solution."
~Maria Montessori
